Who is reachnet?

reachnet specialises in providing high performance broadband services to households and small to medium sized businesses located in regional Australia. Our satellite-based service is available anywhere in Australia and provides a cost effective platform for the delivery of applications such as:

  • internet access
  • private IP or intranet
  • multicast streaming of video and audio
  • multicast package delivery for data files
  • private or public telephony
  • telemetry for equipment monitoring and control (SCADA)
  • telemetry for video monitoring and surveillance
  • The reachnet platform is based on the highly successful “DirecWay” technology developed and operated by HughesNet in the USA.
Do I require a telephone line?

No, you do not require a telephone line to use a satellite service.

How does reachnet’s satellite broadband compare to dial-up?

Dial-up operates at 14.4 – 56Kbps. Our service operates from 256Kbps upwards depending on the service plan you choose. Also, our service is ‘always on’ so you don’t need to reconnect each time you want to use it, saving you the cost of a local call each time you connect to the internet.

How can I test the speed of my reachnet satellite service?
